BILLY AND DAWN RAY

Billy Ray and his wife, Dawn, have lived and worked in the Middle East for over 15 years. In 2008, they moved to Iraq to pioneer work for World Orphans. In 2010, they moved to Soran, Iraq—two hours northeast of Kurdistan's capital city of Erbil. Before the 2014 arrival of ISIS in the region, the Rays were involved with various projects focused on widows and orphans. Since then, they expanded their focus to include helping the increasing numbers of displaced people in and around Soran. Billy, Dawn, and their three sons love exploring the mountains and rivers of Kurdistan, where they often picnic with their Kurdish friends.

HERSH MUSA AD

Hersh Musa Ad joined the World Orphans team as Iraq Country Director in 2012. Hersh is a hard worker, often found working late hours, but he’ll tell you that he loves what he does. As our Project Manager in Iraq, Hersh has managed the construction of the community center, soccer field, refugee camps, and is currently assisting with the building of the school. In this role, he cares for refugees, war widows, and the orphans of Soran. When he’s not pouring his heart and soul into his work, you may find Hersh studying a new language, exploring other cultures, or taking a nature hike.
