In 2010 they made they moved to Soran, Iraq—two hours northeast of Kurdistan's capital city of Erbil. Before the 2014 arrival of ISIS in the region, the Rays were involved with various projects focused on widows and orphans. Since then, they expanded their focus to include helping the increasing numbers of displaced people in and around Soran.
