COMMUNITY CENTER

When we were invited to meet with Mayor Kak Krmanj Dargali of Soran in early 2009, we had no idea what would come next. He cast a vision for us to work with local war widows by providing vocational training, that they might be able to better provide for their families. Later that year, we broke ground on an 8,000 square foot community center that has provided not only vocational training for war widows, but also health and exercise classes, English and Arabic courses, computer classes, preschool, and a growing library. The center also serves as a large hall for weddings, funerals, and other community events!
